Development Update: What's Taking Shape Across EasyProperties | October 2026

Written by TeamEasy | Nov 2, 2026, 7:00:00 AM

Your properties have been keeping busy this October!

At Monarch, new sections of the building are rising above the site fencing. Vanderbuilt is preparing for its next handover milestone, while Woodstock Quarter has reached the lodgement stage.

And there's more happening across the EasyProperties portfolio. Here's where each development stands, what's progressed and what investors can look out for next.

Saxon Square

The attorneys are currently working to have guarantees issued for all retentions on the bonds to secure release consents from the development bond. Additionally, rates figures have been received from the City of Johannesburg (COJ), with the Section 53 certificate expected later this week. Because this certificate acts as a legal gatekeeper—confirming all local municipal development conditions are met so the Deeds Office can legally register and transfer the property—obtaining it keeps the team on track to lodge in the first week of November.

Construction continues to progress on site, with the external structure nearing completion and the roof currently under construction. Internal works are also advancing. The current construction programme anticipates completion in the first quarter of 2027.

Woodstock Quarter

Woodstock has reached the lodgement stage, and the necessary guarantees have been received from the bond attorneys. Once the bond attorneys give the green light, the conveyancers will proceed to lodge.

The Hive

The estimated occupation date is still the first quarter of 2027. Interior finishes are in progress. As are the walkways and common areas .

Lodgement could not proceed at the end of September as anticipated, as rates clearance figures are still outstanding. The rates consultant appointed to resolve the matter with the City of Johannesburg (COJ) is attending to it.

The developer is still in the process of signing pre-sale agreements with existing clients. Once a critical mass of agreements has been signed and deposits paid, the GFA will be obtained and construction will commence.

The developer has confirmed that negotiations on the clearance figures with the City of Johannesburg are still ongoing, and that they are waiting for the surveyor to release the original servitude diagram. Guarantees are still outstanding from the attorneys.

Monarch Development

Significant progress has been made across the structure. All vertical columns on Blocks A and C are now 100% complete, a major milestone in the building’s vertical advancement.

The transfer slab forming the first storey continues to progress rapidly. Areas 1, 2, 3 and 4 have been cast, and steel preparation is already underway for the second-storey slab. The structure is now rising both vertically and horizontally, with sections of Block C visible above the site fencing.

Layer works are being extended to the furthest point of Block C to support the full footprint of the transfer slab. Along Old Oak Road, the retaining wall is being cast and will carry the embossed “MONARCH” branding as part of the development’s architectural identity. Plumbers have been appointed and are on site, and drainage installations within the slab are progressing well. Overall, the project remains on track.

Vanderbuilt

Excellent progress has been made at Vanderbuilt, and occupation is imminent. For buyers taking occupation before transfer, handover is expected to start in mid-November, with snagging carried out when the keys are handed over. The entity’s own units will only be handed over once the property has been transferred.
