Cape Winelands living at Devonbosch

Our VP of Brand, Carly Esterhuizen, shares how she spent the day at Devonbosch – an estate available to invest in via EasyProperties.

When I heard that the latest EasyProperties property, Devonbosch, was in the Cape Winelands I knew I had to go check it out.

I love this part of Cape Town - so much so that I even got married there. I only recently realised that it boasts over 500 vineyards…I may just add seeing (and sipping?) them all to my bucket list. Aside from all the wine and the world class restaurants in this region, I’m often drawn there by the beautiful mountain vistas and nature-based activities that it has to offer.

I looked Devonbosch up ahead of my visit – it’s an estate not far from Stellenbosch and it’s centred around a live-work-play lifestyle. This is a growing property trend that has proven to be a real appeal for investors. Some of our most successful properties have embodied this theme – Polofields and Blackbrick come to mind, but there have been a few others too (look out for when they feature on our now monthly auctions). So I had an idea of what it might be like; but my experience at Devonbosch delighted me in a way that I didn’t expect and made me feel really excited about what is still to come.

The units themselves are modern, sophisticated and considered; and there are plans for green spaces, walkways and park areas in and around them. Standing on the balcony I could see the mountain bike trail (ramps and all!); the lake where you can go stand up paddling; and the gym which will offer indoor and outdoor training.

The outdoor activities are just half of the vibe though.

Across the street from the residential apartments is retail and commercial space, giving you the opportunity to grab a coffee or a pizza after your trail run, or maybe even hop over to the planned co-working space or offices to do some graft. And get this: you can even go for a little wine tasting at Aslina Wines, by Ntsiki Biyela. Her story of going from domestic worker to winemaker is really inspiring and makes the experience that much more special.

As an investment opportunity there’s a lot about Devonbosch that I like. There are plans for an amphitheatre, hotel, luxury residential homes, more shops and restaurants, and padel courts. They really are just getting started, and that makes me feel optimistic about the potential for the property’s value to grow.
